Estate Planning From Anywhere in Alaska
No commute. No office visit. No hassle.
At 49th Estate Planning, we know Alaska doesn’t slow down in the summer — and neither do you. That’s why we make it easy to get your estate plan in place from wherever life takes you, with virtual appointments available statewide over Zoom.
How It Works: From First Call to Finished Plan
We’ve designed our virtual process to be simple, straightforward, and completely manageable from your kitchen table, your fish camp, or anywhere in between.
Step 1: Schedule Your Free 15-Minute Call
Click the button below to book a free 15-minute introductory call with our team. There’s no pressure and no commitment — just a quick, friendly conversation to learn about where you are, what you need, and how we can help. We’ll make sure we’re the right fit and answer any initial questions before moving forward.
Takes 2 minutes to schedule. Available mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
Step 2: Schedule Your Life & Legacy Planning Session
During your introductory call, you’ll schedule your Life & Legacy Planning Session or Plan Review Meeting — a dedicated two-hour Zoom meeting with your attorney. This is where your estate plan truly comes to life. During this meeting, one of our attorneys will review your current plan with you, and let you know what would happen to your family and your assets if something were to happen to you. Will they be able to make medical decisions? Access your accounts to pay your bills if you are incapacitated? Our attorneys will help you understand the rights and access your loved ones have in the case of an emergency.
We’ll hold your spot while you complete the next step.
Step 3: Complete Your Secure Client Inventory
Once your Life & Legacy Planning Session is scheduled, we’ll send you a secure link to our client portal, powered by DecisionVault — a bank-level encrypted platform built specifically for sensitive legal and financial information. You’ll complete your personal inventory at your own pace, from any device, before your session date.
This is where you’ll share the details we need — things like family information, assets, and your wishes for the future. It typically takes 1-2 hours and can be done in stages if needed.
This information will allow the attorney time to review your current situation, and come to your planning session prepared to answer all of your questions based on your idividual needs.
Your information is protected by attorney-client privilege and SOC 2 certified security.
Step 4: Your Life & Legacy Planning Session
With your inventory complete, you’re ready for your two-hour Zoom session with your attorney. This is the heart of the process — a dedicated, unhurried conversation where your attorney takes the time to truly understand your family, your values, and your goals.
Together, you’ll make all of the key decisions for your estate plan, which may include:
- Wills
- Revocable or irrevocable trusts
- Durable power of attorney
- Healthcare directives and medical power of attorney
- Beneficiary designations
- Special needs planning, asset protection, and more
Zoom link sent in advance. No special software required — works on any phone, tablet, or computer.
Step 5: Signing Your Documents
Once your customized documents have been prepared, we’ll coordinate your signing appointment. We’ll walk you through exactly what needs to be signed and guide you through every detail so nothing gets missed.
We’ll make this step as smooth and straightforward as possible, whether completed virtually or with a local notary near you.
Step 6: Funding Your Trust (Trust Plans Only)
If your plan includes a trust, signing is just the beginning — a trust only works when it’s properly funded. This means transferring your assets into the name of your trust so your plan can protect your family the way it was designed to.
You won’t do this alone. Our dedicated Funding Coordinator will guide you through the entire process step by step — updating beneficiaries, scheduling financial institution appointments, and uploading confirmations to your secure portal as you go.
No question is too small. Getting this right is what protects your family.
Step 7: Your Binder Delivery Meeting
The final step is your Binder Delivery Meeting — where your completed estate plan is delivered in an organized, easy-to-understand format. We’ll walk you through your binder so you know exactly what you have, where everything is, and what it means for your family.
This is the moment your plan is truly in place. Your family is protected.
What You'll Need for a Virtual Appointment
Not much — here’s a quick checklist to get started:
- A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
- A quiet spot with a reliable internet connection
- Your spouse if you are married and planning together
- Basic information about your family, assets, and wishes (we’ll guide you through the rest)
Flat-Fee Pricing. No Surprises.
We believe you shouldn’t have to worry about the clock running while you’re asking questions. That’s why we offer transparent, flat-fee pricing — you’ll know exactly what your estate plan costs before we begin. No hourly charges, no surprise bills.
