Your Funding Guide
In these short videos, Liz will explain how to fully fund your trust. If you have any questions about any of the below topics, these videos are the fastest solution to getting your questions answered.
Five Steps to Fund Your Trust
1. Use Your Family Wealth Inventory
Start with the Family Wealth Inventory spreadsheet you received. Use it as a checklist to work through each asset, and refer back to the instructions on this page based on the specific type of asset you are addressing.
2. Update Your Beneficiaries
Prepare any beneficiary change forms needed and submit them to the appropriate entity.
- Some changes can be completed entirely online
- For banks and credit unions, schedule an in-person visit or call ahead to confirm drop-in is accepted
3. Schedule Your Appointments
Make appointments for any in-person visits to financial institutions. For banks and credit unions, confirm whether drop-in visits are accepted or if an appointment is required before you go.
4. Upload Confirmations to Your Portal
As you complete each recommended action, upload your confirmation documents to your online portal. At your next meeting, we will provide an updated spreadsheet showing all confirmations we have received on our end.
5. Follow Up if You Don't Hear Back
After submitting any change request, watch for confirmation from the entity.
- If you have not received anything within 2 weeks, follow up and ask them to confirm the change has been made
- Do not assume it is done until you have written confirmation
